Primark Haul!

So, since the New Year, I've been out and about all over the place, Yeovil, Bournemouth, Poole, Bristol, and much to my boyfriend's disgust (please tell me if you have the same problem!), each of these places has a rather satisfactory Primark. If you know me, you'll know that I cannot resist Primark and it is VERY rare for me to come out of one empty-handed.

When I moved to Bristol in October I couldn't believe my luck when I learned that the second largest Primark in the UK was in fact in Bristol, just a ten minute walk from where I lived! I was in heaven but my bank account was doomed!

Primark in Bristol
As sad as this may sound, I fell even more in love with Primark due to the fact I was a student and the prices are amazing, it almost became my second home!

However, I left Bristol at the end of October and the closest Primark to where I live is quite a drive away so I have to make the most of one while I have access to it. In the first week of January me and my boyfriend stayed in a hotel in Bournemouth where I took advantage of the rather large Primark there, and then last week I returned from visiting him in Bristol, the home of my favourite store! So this is going to be a collective haul of the things I bought on both trips, some in the sale, some not, so that you can all get an idea of what's instore at the moment :)

Item #1

Scarf - Was: £4, Now: £2
This is possibly my favourite thing I've bought so far this year. I originally saw it when it was full price and I remember thinking 'Oooh that's interesting' but I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure what it would go with. However, when I went to Bristol last week I saw it again and it was reduced to £2 so I decided at that price, it didn't matter if it didn't go with anything! (It actually goes with everything). It's super soft but I have to admit not overly warm, but it does brighten up any outfit :)

Item #2

Owl Earrings - £1.50
Anyone who knows me knows I'm pretty obsessed with owls. Most of the stuff in my room has owls on, the majority of my jewellery has owls on, I even own pairs of knickers with owls on. So when I saw these, I couldn't resist and chucked them straight in the basket. They're so cute! And for £1.50 you definitely can't go wrong.

Item #3

Candles - £2 each
Okay, so, at the moment I'm going through a bit of an obsession with candles. I can't get enough candles. My desk in my room is covered in them and I love lighting a couple just before I go to bed to help me relax. I find Primark do quite a good selection of scented candles and they're all really cheap. Since the New Year I've noticed they've brought a new range into stores, which I found these in, and they have some really nice scents. The two I've bought are Raspberry and Papaya and Coconut Milk and Mango. These are cute little glass containers, all different colours, and I'm sure they'd have lots of different colours to suit whatever colour scheme you have in your house :) I also thought that the containers would be quite handy to put stuff in once the candle has been used up.

Item #4

Candle Tin - £2
Continuing with the candle obsession, I found this in the same range as the ones above, for the same price! They have these tins in the same scents as the glass ones and I picked this one up to go with my other Raspberry and Papaya one. They're fairly big for the price and I like candles in tins because I think they look nice dotted around the house :)

Item #5

Necklace - £4
I've been after a spiked necklace for a long time now, but I was hesitant to buy an expensive one, which is all I could find. But then I came across this beauty in Primark for £4 and bought it without a further thought. I'm so glad I did! I've had lots of compliments on it so far and it jazzes up any plain or even patterned top!

Item #6

Khaki Hoodie - Was: £8, Now: £3
I've been meaning to get a slouchy hoodie with shoelace neck strings for ages so I was chuffed when I found this in Primark for £3! I decided to go up a size cause I like my hoodies to be comfy and slouchy and I knew khaki would go with anything. This will be easy to just chuck over the top of any outfit and it's quite lightweight and so I'll be able to wear it in the Summer too :)

Item #7

Blazer - Was: £16, Now: £10
When I found this blazer, it was the only one of its kind on the sale rail. All of the other blazers on the rail were reduced to £10 but this one still said full price. I tried it on and fell in love with it and decided to take it to the till to find out if it had been reduced or not. When the guy scanned it he said it was still full price so I told him I'd found it on the sale rail and he manually reduced it to £10 for me, result! I haven't actually worn this yet, I'm waiting for the perfect outfit to wear it with. But similar to the hoodie I know it'll go with anything and although it's a blazer, the jersey material makes it quite casual :)

Item #8

Cardigan - £14
I swear my lifetime ambition has been to find a baggy, slouchy cardi that I can just chuck on with any outfit for a bit of warmth or just another layer. I've spent what feels like years searching for the perfect one! And then I found this, and I love it! The colour goes with anything and the bronze studs on the shoulders jazz it up a bit and make it more stylish. I was even more chuffed when I left Primark, went into Topshop and found one LITERALLY identical for £42, three times the price!

Item #9

Sweatshirt - Was: £8, Now: £3
This is the final item of this haul and a bit of a bargain too! It's burgundy, one of my favourite colours at the moment and has studs all over the front of it, a style feature which you'd find throughout my wardrobe at the moment! I couldn't resist this one for £3 but I'd advise going up a size in it, I did and it's still quite tight on me :/

So that's the end of this haul but no doubt I'll have another Primark one for you soon! I've also done quite a bit of shopping elsewhere this month and might do another collective haul in the week :)

Thanks for reading :)

Welcome to Rebecca's Place

Welcome!

Welcome to Rebecca's Place. My name's Rebecca and I thought it would be appropriate to use my first post to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me :)

So! This is me:

New Year's Eve 2012 - 2013

I'm 19 years old and I currently work at M&S as a Customer Assistant. However! It wasn't always this way...

In October 2012 I hit a big milestone in my life: time to start university. So, after months of preparation and buying lots of lovely things to make my new room look nice, I made a two hour journey to Bristol to start my new life. I would be lying if I said I'd been looking forward to it, I'm a home bird at heart and was dreading leaving my home and family behind!

Here are a few pictures of my new room:

Now don't get me wrong, my room was lovely, a good size with sufficient storage space and a stunning view out of the window. However, I didn't get to choose this place, it was the last place left when I applied for my accommodation so I didn't have much choice. You're probably thinking, 'what's wrong with that?'. Well, here's my top three disadvantages to this place:

1) The walls are like cardboard and unfortunately I didn't have the most considerate flatmates in the world so sleep was sometimes impossible.
2)  I lost count of the amount of times the fire alarm went off in the space of a week.
Fire alarms at ridiculous times + 9am lectures = bad times.
3) The building is surrounded by pubs, clubs and restaurants and this paired with the terribly insulated windows made for long, noisy nights.

Despite this, the location was lovely and we were right on the canal:

Once Freshers Week had passed, I began studying a degree in Management. Unfortunately the course wasn't at all what I'd expected. I had 15 hours a week of lectures: 14 hours of Finance, Accounting and Economics and only 1 hour of Management. How can they call it a Management degree?! After just two days I realised I wasn't going to enjoy the course at all and so I swapped to Sociology instead, managing to keep my 1 hour of Management a week.

I studied Sociology for the next two weeks but to be completely honest, I didn't really understand anything that we were doing - I didn't do Sociology at A Level but it seemed as though everyone else had! I was so out of my depth and I managed to just about scrape my way through each of my lectures and tutorials. I was feeling so stupid and missed home like crazy but I didn't want to let anyone down and just hoped that I'd get over it soon and settle down. However, that weekend, I traveled home to spend a few nights with my family and it made me realise just how much I was missing everything: my parents, my sister, my dogs, my bed, Sunday roasts made by my mum, and the list goes on. After I traveled back to Bristol, I stuck it out for two more days, but then on Wednesday the 24th of October, just 3 weeks and 3 days after I'd arrived, I made the decision that I wanted to go home.

I know it was a huge decision to make but I didn't want to waste 3 years of my life and get myself into stupid amounts of debt just to be miserable. Uni isn't for everyone and October 2012 made me realise that. So, I skyped my parents and they were completely supportive of me and said they just wanted me to be happy which made me feel a lot better. As soon as I'd told them I felt as though a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I immediately felt happy again. The next day I went to see my tutor to discuss my decision with him and by Monday the 29th of October, exactly 1 month after I left, I was home.

It's now January 2013 and I can honestly say I haven't had a single regret about leaving uni.

Now, I don't want this post to put anyone off going to uni. This is just my personal experience and I'm only sharing it so you know more about me. Everyone's different and I'm sure if I didn't get so homesick and if I'd picked the right course, I'd still be at uni now, having taken my first exams and submitted my first piece of coursework. Everyone else I know who has gone is absolutely loving it and whenever they visit home, they can't wait to get back again!

So now I'm working at M&S, earning money to pay for my phone contract, my car insurance, petrol and of course, new clothes/shoes/jewellery/bags/etc! Just in case you were wondering, this is my car, which I could afford to buy once I left uni!

My baby
So mostly I'm working to pay for the insurance for my car and regular petrol trips, anything left after that I use to treat myself every now and then!

I tend to spend quite a lot of my spare time watching YouTube videos by Sprinkle of Glitter (YouTubeBlog) and Zoella (YouTubeBlog and Website).

Zoella (left) and Sprinkle of Glitter (right)
I love watching these two, especially together, and having read their blogs, they've inspired me to start one myself. I always find myself on mini shopping sprees but I never have anyone to share my purchases with, and as sad as it sounds, I get really excited about showing what I've bought to other people! I really enjoy watching Louise and Zoe's hauls but unfortunately I'm not brave enough to film videos like they do, so I'm going to use this blog to post about the things I've bought, what I've been up to, my favourite beauty products, etc.

I know I'm not going to be anywhere near as good or popular as Louise or Zoe but who knows what could happen, it's just a bit of fun :)

I'm really sorry that this has been such a boring blog post, I really wanted you guys to know a bit about me and who I am before I just jumped in with the regular blog posts. I hope I didn't bore you too much and thanks for reading :)
